(NC 9247 2045) Cup & Ring Stone (NR)
OS 6"map, (1963)
A cup and ring marked, pentagonal block of micaceous schist, 24" across and 6" thick, which lay embedded in the ground with its flat, sculptured face flush with the surface until it was excavated and set upright by McLeod (Information from W MacLeod, Suisgill) who discovered it in 1933. The stone bears fourteen cups, two being larger than the others, flat-bottomed and surrounded by penannular rings, through the entrances of which channels run to connect with smaller cups. The remaining cups vary from 3/4" to 2 1/2" in diameter, five having single channels and one having two channels.
