This panel is located in a grassy area immediately (about 2m) behind, on the western side, the southern half of the main facade of Cairnholy 1 chambered cairn. It is a large slab which slopes to the NE. The panel may have been moved from it original position, but its relationship to the chambered cairn is unclear.

C5. Panel Notes

This is a large slab of greywacke stone, which measures 1.9m x 0.9m in size and is between 0.3m and 0.7m in height. In the centre of the panel there is a single cup surrounded by perhaps 5 rings that may be partial or very eroded. A possible radial groove extends from the central cup, and there is a later groove cutting across some of the rings The surface is badly flaked and the carvings are weathered and only visible in low sunlight.
