B5. Location Notes
The panel is thought to be situated at the bottom (eastern) end of a field of improved pasture on the NW edge of a low knoll where the carved outcrops Townhead 18-24 are located, and about 5m W of Townhead 22, about 30m W of burn/ditch on field boundary, and 30m NE of prominent crescent-shaped knoll covered in field clearance, where the carved rocks Townhead 13-17 are located. It was not located in the field and is thought to be under deep turf. Townhead 23 was originally recorded as Townhead 6 by van Hoek and Townhead 2c by Naddir et al. It is grouped with Townhead 22 and 24 (Naddir et al's Townhead 2a and 2b; van Hoek's 5 and 7) under Canmore 77806).
